Atletico Madrid’s Diego Godin to become Inter Milan’s top earner

Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin will become the highest paid player at Inter Milan when he signs for the club this summer, according to a report from Italian newspaper La Gazetta dello Spor this weekend.

Godin, 33, has been widely reported to be heading for the exit door after over a decade of service with Los Rojiblancos, with the Serie A side set to be his destination ahead of the 2019-20 campaign.

According to the report, the Uruguayan international will sign a three year deal at the San Siro, with a weekly wage of around €128,000 per week – an increase on his current wages in the Spanish capital – who are currently only offering a one year extension to his expiring deal.

That will place him as the club's highest paid players, above current top earners Radja Nainggolan and Mauro Icardi, with the latter linked with a move away from Italy this summer.

Inter are set to undergo a transfer overhaul this summer, with Manchester City Danilo also reported to be on their radar in the coming months.
