Sergio Ramos remains sidelined for Villarreal clash

Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos will miss their weekend clash with Villarreal as he continues to recover from a calf injury.

The experienced defender has missed the last five games for Los Blancos, after picking up the injury in training, and manager Zinedine Zidane confirmed that he would remain sidelined for at least another week.

The Frenchman declined to confirm whether or not Ramos would feature against this season, adding that the club's medical staff were doing all they can to get Ramos back in the side.

Forward pair Karim Benzema and Vinicius Junior will also miss the visit of Javier Calleja's relegation battlers to the Santiago Bernabeu as they are both not yet fully match fit.

Benzema is expected to return for the trip to Real Sociedad on May 12th, however Brazilian teenager Vinicius could have already played his last game of the 2018-19 season.

Zidane is expected to make changes to his starting line up after a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Rayo Vallecano last time out, with Mariano Diaz and Dani Ceballos both in line to be dropped.
