Atletico Madrid in for Valencia full-back Jose Luis Gaya

Atletico Madrid want to sign Valencia left-back Jose Luis Gaya this summer, according to a report in Super Deporte.

The left-back penned a new long-term deal at Los Che a year ago with a release clause which remains unclear, with reports of its value ranging between €40m and €100m.

This development was first reported by Cadena Cope back in November but now local Valencia media are insistent that Atleti have been scouting the defender extensively.

Filipe Luis is out of contract at the capital club this summer alongside Juanfran and Diego Godin, while Lucas Hernandez has already agreed a move to Bayern Munich for this summer.

Los Rojiblancos have also been extensively linked with a move for Porto defensive duo Felipe and Alex Telles, the latter of whom is also a left-back.

Gaya starred for Spain’s Under-21 side in the 2017 European Championships and has gone on to win four caps for the Spain senior team.

It appears Gaya could be part of an extensive defensive overhaul in Diego Simeone’s side this summer.
