Luca Zidane set to leave Real Madrid for France

Real Madrid goalkeeper Luca Zidane is set to leave the club this month to join Ligue 2 club Clermont Foot in France, say reports.

Marca cite a report in France Football that the club who are currently 10th in the French second tier will sign Zidane, son of Madrid boss Zinedine, this summer.

The France youth international started the 3-2 league victory over Huesca with Keylor Navas and Thibaut Courtois both unavailable for selection, but has found first-team opportunities limited in the Spanish capital.

“Luca is a great goalkeeper and deserves these opportunities,” former Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Castilla – who joined English Champions club Leeds United in January – told an interview with Marca earlier this month.

“He is a great person too, he works very hard and has maturity beyond his years, he has done very well for the Castilla side and has worked his way up.

“Who knows where his future now, but he is growing at Madrid and he will be an excellent goalkeeper regardless of what club he plays for.”

Luca’s brother Enzo currently plays for Madrid-based Rayo Majadahonda in the Spanish second tier.
