Manchester United ‘serious’ on Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak

Manchester United are serious in their intentions of signing Atletico Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak this summer, say ESPN FC.

Oblak this month extended his previous deal at Los Rojiblancos – which was due to run through until June 2021 – by a further two years.

However, his release clause only went up by €20m to €120m, a sum which the Red Devils are said to see as affordable.

Last week, Diario AS cited a report in the Metro that United are increasingly uncertain on David de Gea’s future, with the Spain international’s contract expiring in the summer of 2020.

The Slovenian international has developed into one of the world’s elite goalkeepers in Madrid since his €16m transfer from Benfica in 2014.

Oblak has been a regular in Diego Simeone's starting line-up across the past four seasons and his renewal has long been seen as a priority.

De Gea has made a series of high profile errors recently for United as his future looks increasingly unclear.
