Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone praised the winning mentality of his side following their 3-2 victory over Valencia.
Los Rojiblancos will not win La Liga this season but they are giving their all to finish second, above city rivals Real Madrid.
“Winning is always our objective, we never want to lose,” Simeone told reporters after the game.
“Every single match that we play is incredibly important for us and everything victory is meaningful, particularly when you play an opponent as highly talented as Valencia.
“Obviously, my team played a very important match and like I said, there’s a big difference between winning, drawing, losing.
“If you cannot finish first then your aim should be to finish second and if you cannot finish second, then you must try to finish third.
“That’s what we hope to do – we aim to finish as high as we possibly can.”
