Eintracht ‘powerless’ to stop Real Madrid signing Luka Jovic

Eintracht Frankfurt sporting director Fredi Bobic admits the club would be powerless to keep Luka Jovic should Real Madrid move for the striker.

Marca and Diario AS have both heavily linked Madrid with a move for the Serbian striker, who they say is their striking priority.

The striker has 17 goals in 21 Bundesliga starts this season, more than anyone else in the division apart from Robert Lewandowski, while he has also netted eight goals in the Europa League this campaign.

“There is a big possibility that Jovic will join Real Madrid,” Bobic is cited as saying by Maca.

“My desire is for him to remain at Eintracht but I am also realistic – if a big club like Madrid comes in for him, we do not have a chance to keep him.”

The reports claim the Bosnian-born striker is the ‘number one choice’ at the outgoing European champions to reinvigorate their attack.

Frankfurt signed the striker permanently from Benfica in an €8m deal last week but they are now expected to sell him to Los Blancos for a sizable profit.

Madrid are said to hold a strong interest in the Serbian and are willing to pay €70m for his signature, say reports, while Barcelona are said to be no longer in the running.

Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also interested in a deal.
