Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets considering MLS

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets has not rule out a move to MLS should he leave the Camp Nou in the future.

Now aged 30, the Spain international has a further four years on his contract at the Catalan giants but may not see out his career at the club.

“You cannot predict the future, but I'm a fan of the United States, and football continues to grow there,” Busquets told Sports Illustrated, as cited by Diario AS.

“The competitive style and playoff format is different from what we are used to here, and that draws me in.

“I always said I wouldn't be put on a secondary role at Barcelona when I feel my ambition vanishes, or I'm no longer able to comply I will step aside feeling content for what I gave to the club.”

Busquets has been critiqued as showing signs of physical decline in recent times, with Barca’s summer deal for Frenkie de Jong potentially seeing his first-team role more limited from next season.
