Juventus turn to Benfica defender Alex Grimaldo

Juventus have turned their attentions to Benfica full-back Alejandro 'Alex' Grimaldo instead of Real Madrid’s Marcelo, according to a report in Calciomerato.

The 23-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Atletico Madrid in the past by Spanish media, with Filipe Luis and Lucas Hernandez facing uncertain futures at the club.

Grimaldo joined the Portuguese club from Barcelona’s B side in 2016 in a €1.5m deal and came close to joining Napoli last summer, with his valuation now set at around €40m.

The fresh report claims the Bianconeri are now eyeing the defender – who has also been linked to Manchester City and Arsenal – instead of Madrid’s Marcelo.

The reports have nicknamed the left-back as being ‘the next Jordi Alba’ and could be set for a move away from the Lisbon-based club this summer.
