Marc-Andre Ter Stegen ‘could not celebrate’ David de Gea error

Barcelona goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen admits he ‘could not celebrate’ his side’s second goal against Manchester United due to David de Gea’s error.

The German showed solidarity with his United counterpart, who let Messi’s long-range effort squirm under his body for the Blaugrana’s second in a 3-0 win on Tuesday night.

“I could not celebrate that goal at the time, to see David de Gea’s mistake hurt me,” Ter Stegen said at a book launch event on Thursday.

“Everyone is human and these errors can happen for anyone, when you play in our position they are highlighted more than elsewhere.

“I told him after the match that we all make mistakes and that life will go on.”
