Iago Aspas signs new Celta Vigo contract

Iago Aspas has signed a new contract at Celta Vigo which will see him remain at the Galician club until 2023, it has been confirmed.

The 31-year-old is an instrumental figure for the relegation-threatened side and his previous deal at Balaidos had been set to expire in the summer of 2021.

Aspas had missed three months of action with a calf problem, coinciding with his side’s form plummeting but netted five goals in three games since his return.

Celta Vigo are deep in relegation trouble, one point and one place from relegation with six games remaining in the 2018-19 La Liga season.

The Spain international has netted a remarkable 85 goals – 70 in La Liga – since rejoining the club in the summer of 2015.
