Real Betis have exercised their option to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Giovani Lo Celso on a permanent deal, the club have confirmed.
The Argentine international had been on a season-long loan deal at Los Verdiblancos from the Parisians and the option to sign him permanently is thought to stand at €22m.
The 23-year-old has starred for the club this season and bagged an impressive 15 goals, making him one of the standout players in the division.
Also registering four assists in his 40 appearances to date, Lo Celso’s fine form had seen him linked to both Real Madrid and Barcelona this summer.
“I do not know if Madrid or Barça asked for me, I focus on Betis,” Lo Celso told France Football, in quotes cited by Marca.
“At Betis I feel very comfortable with the style of football and how we play, the Coach’s idea of football is something that I like.
“I knew I was coming to one of the most competitive leagues in the world and I feel very comfortable in Spain, it is better suited to an Argentine than France is.
“Here it is much more similar, especially because of the language – it is different of course but very nice.”
