Barcelona president: Antoine Griezmann not on the table

Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said a deal for Antoine Griezmann ‘is not on the table’ but did not entirely rule out a move.

The Frenchman penned a new long-term contract at Atletico Madrid last summer after rejecting interesting from the Catalan giants, but has once again been linked with a move.

“There is always speculation for great players, but Griezmann players for Atletico Madrid and he has a contract there,” Bartomeu told TVE, as cited by Marca.

“Great players in Spain are fantastic for the league, it drives sponsorship and opportunities but if Griezmann wants to come, then he has to speak to the clubs.

“But his name is not on the table, he has not called Barcelona and there is always speculation on issues like this.

“Ivan Rakitic? We are happy with him, we promised we would speak to renew his contract but this has not yet happened because of the schedule, but we will talk.

“Samuel Umtiti? He is a fantastic player, a World Cup winner, he has four years left on his contract and we hope he continues to recover from his injury and thrive for this club.

“Neymar returning? It is not possible because we have a new sporting direction with Ousmane Dembele and Philippe Coutinho.”
