Scott McTominay stopped Barcelona being Barcelona – Jose Mourinho

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay ‘stopped Barcelona from being Barcelona’, according to his former boss Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese boss gave the central midfielder his debut for United in 2017 and the Scotland international put in a sterling performance against the Catalan giants in Wednesday night’s Champions League quarter-final first leg tie.

“Barcelona were not Barcelona,” Mourinho told Russia Today.

“I think United had one player that was responsible for that because I think Scott McTominay in midfield he was like what I used to call – but when I use this expression it's obviously in the total positive sense of the word – a mad dog.

“He was afraid of nobody. Imposing his respect. Pressing really hard with a huge range of movement a huge area of pressing. Pressing higher and creating problems in Barcelona building up then really aggressive on the duels.”
