Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin praised VAR for correctly allowing his goal against Girona but warned: “on other occasions it has been wrong.”
Godin headed in the opener in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over Girona but it had initially been called offside, before video technology corrected the decision and awarded the goal.
“VAR did us justice last night, but on other occasions it has been wrong for us,” Godin told reporters, as cited by Marca.
“It was an important victory for us and the first goal was crucial in the game against a team who always makes it difficult, so scoring that made me very happy.
“We have to beat Barcelona and cut their lead at the top.”
