Croatia try to snatch winger Dani Olmo from Spain

Croatia want Dinamo Zagreb winger and Spain Under-21 international Dani Olmo to switch his international allegiance, boss Zlatko Dalic has said.

Olmo joined Dinamo as part of the swap deal which saw Alen Halilovic move to Barca in 2015 and has since emerged as a star for the Croatian club.

The winger is now 20 and previous reports have claimed the Catalan club have now made contact over the future of the highly-rated player.

“We lost the possibility of nationalising (Zlatan) Ibrahimovic and we cannot miss an equal opportunity now with Dani Olmo,” Croatia boss Dalic said, as cited by Marca.

“Because of the profile of the player, we are losing a great talent and I am ready to give him every chance.”

Dinamo have previously knocked back interest from Valencia and Milan while Borussia Dortmund, Manchester United and Olympique de Marseille have also been linked to a possible transfer.

However, the one stumbling block to any club change is Dinamo’s insistence that they will not sell their star for less than €25m, although an international switch may be likely.
