Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly changes agent for summer move

Napoli central defender Kalidou Koulibaly has changed his agent to his brother as he seeks a summer transfer, report The Independent.

A report in Diario AS last week claimed the defender was Real Madrid’s number one option to replace Raphael Varane, should he choose to leave the club this month.

Koulibaly penned a new contract until 2023 in Naples last summer but the fresh report claims his family want to receive a portion of the transaction fees of a summer deal this year.

The Senegal international has come to be recognised as one of the best defenders in the world and has been linked with a move away from the Partenopei.

The previous report in AS claimed the defender is the number one target for Los Blancos should the highly-rated Varane decide to depart this summer, although Manchester United have also been strongly linked.

“When I was his agent, Real Madrid never showed up for him, unlike Barcelona,” the player’s former agent Bruno Satin – who parted company with the player last year – told Radio Kiss earlier this month, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“He is a player who can aspire to go to any club, but he's very happy at Napoli.”

Reports have suggested the Italian club would only be willing to sell the 27-year-old defender for upwards of €100m, which may have scuppered any move in previous transfer windows.

Meanwhile, the Corriere dello Sport claimed in Friday's edition last week that there is a release clause valid only for overseas clubs worth €150m.
