Luis Enrique calls on Spain to improve

Spain boss Luis Enrique has demanded improvements from his players after they secured a hard fought 2-1 win over Norway in their opening Euro 2020 qualification match on Saturday night.

Goals from Rodrigo Moreno and captain Sergio Ramos ensured that La Roja started their campaign with a win, but the former Barcelona boss stated post-match that he wants more from his squad.

"I am pleased with the performance of the players in training and in the game today.

"But we were not as effective in the game today as we could have been, and we must keep our confidence levels up.

"I am confident that we can improve."

Spain struggled to break down a well organised Norway defence, with a penalty from Ramos needed to pick up all three points, and Enrique knows they need to be more efficient in front of goal.

"I think we deserved to win 5-1 or 6-1, but in football you have to take your chances.

"Overall I am happy with the performance, but the game should have ended with a bigger winning margin."
