Zidane hails ‘fundamental’ Marco Asensio

Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane has hailed midfielder Marco Asensio as key to the future of his side.

The 21 year-old was given his club debut by the Frenchman during his first spell in charge at the Santiago Bernabeu, however he has been used sporadically by Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari this season.

He returned to the starting line up in Zidane's first game back against Celta Vigo, and he is line for a big role in 2019-20.

"I have spoken to him and told him that he will be fundamental to the team.

"And I want him here with us."

Asensio received a call up to Luis Enrique's Spain squad for games against Norway and Malta, however he was returned to Real Madrid with a minor injury ahead of their clash at home to Huesca.
