Thibaut Courtois: “Spanish press want to kill me, but I’m still one of the best”

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has hit out at the Spanish press for ‘wanting to kill me’ and insists he is still ‘one of the best’ in world football.

The Belgian international joined Los Blancos in a €40m deal from Chelsea last summer but has struggled for form despite being selected ahead of Keylor Navas by previous Coaches Julen Lopetegui and Santiago Solari.

“I am one of the best, although the Spanish press wants to kill me,” Courtois responded when asked about his recent form, cite El Espanol.

“I feel very strong, I'm calm because I train well and play well.”

Last month, Courtois’ father Thierry told reporters: “I feel that everyone is targeting Thibaut.”

Zinedine Zidane’s first game back at Madrid saw Courtois dropped in favour of the club’s previous first-choice goalkeeper Keylor Navas.
