Real Betis wing-back Junior Firpo in high demand across Europe

A number of top European clubs are chasing Real Betis full-back Junior Firpo, according to ESPN FC, with Real Madrid and Barcelona among them.

The Dominican-born defender only made his first-team debut at Los Verdiblancos in early 2018 but has now established himself as a regular starter, making 35 appearances.

The 22-year-old has featured just twice in the past three months due to a number of muscular injuries including thigh and hamstring pulls.

Junior has a €50m release clause in Seville and has a long-term deal at the club until the summer of 2023, having penned a fresh contract last year.

Firpo has scored in his most recent three of his last seven La Liga appearances – against Celta Vigo, Barcelona and Real Sociedad.

Juventus and Liverpool are also said by the report to be interested in his signature alongside the Spanish giants.

Reports in England have also linked both Arsenal and Manchester City to his signature, although the player has stated he sees himself at Betis ‘for many years’.
