Atletico Madrid v Barcelona to break women’s football crowd record

Atletico Madrid will set a new record attendance for a women's match in Europe when they play Barcelona in Sunday’s league match.

The game has been moved from Atleti’s training ground to the club’s Wanda Metropolitano stadium, which has a 68,000 capacity while at least 60,000 tickets have been sold.

ESPN FC have outlined how the club had sold out the initial allocation of 50,000 tickets – priced at €5 – with a further 10,000 being shifted in the timeframe since for the top-of-the-table clash (league leaders Atleti are six points clear of Barca at the top of the table).

The previous Spanish record attendance for a women’s match was set last month when Atleti played Athletic Club of Bilbao in the Copa de la Reina match, with 48,121 fans at the stadium.
