Jose Mourinho ‘not disappointed’ on Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane appointment

Jose Mourinho has reiterated he is ‘not disappointed’ at Real Madrid’s appointment of Zinedine Zidane and believes it is the ‘perfect solution’.

Zidane replaced Santiago Solari as Madrid boss earlier this week, signing a contract until 2022, despite Mourinho – who coached Los Blancos between 2010 and 2013 – being heavily linked to a return.

“No, of course I’m not disappointed,” Mourinho said on El Chiringuito TV, when asked about Zidane’s appointment.

“I never talked about whether I would want to return to the position (as Madrid Coach) and I think, in my opinion, this is a perfect solution.

“Zidane has done magnificent things for the club over the past number of years, so it is perfect for him and perfect for the club.

“Now he has a new project, he can start afresh and prove to everyone how talented he is, so I wish him all the best.”
