Jose Maria Gimenez believes Atletico Madrid will miss his central defensive partner Diego Godin should he end up joining Inter this summer.
The two have played together for Los Rojiblancos and the Uruguay national team across the past five years, but the experienced Godin is out of contract this summer and has been linked to the Italian club.
“There’s been a lot of talk about his departure but as long as Diego is here, we’ll continue to enjoy him and, above all, learn from him,” Gimenez [pictured, left] told Telemundo.
“If he ends up leaving, we’ll miss him. At the same time, however, everything he did for Atletico will remain and all our fans will be eternally grateful.”
The pair are set to face Juventus in the second leg of Los Colchoneros’ Champions League last-16 tie next week, with their side 2-0 up on aggregate.
