Real Madrid set to sack boss Santiago Solari

Real Madrid have decided to sack Santiago Solari but will only confirm the decision once they have decided upon a replacement, say ESPN.

The club have endured a terrible week – Tuesday’s humiliating 4-1 defeat at home to Ajax completing a six-day period whereby they also lost two El Clasicos at their home ground.

Los Blancos exited the Copa del Rey last Wednesday and are now 12 points off the pace in La Liga, with the season destined to end with no trophies for the club.

The report now clarifies that Solari, who replaced Julen Lopetegui in October, is now an ‘interim manager’ but is expected to take charge of the weekend game at Real Valladolid.

“Who knows, if we knew the future we would all play the lottery,” Solari told reporters earlier this week.

Jose Mourinho, who managed Madrid between 2010 and 2013, is favourite to replace the Argentine in the role.
