‘Barcelona suffered in El Clasico’ – Sergio Busquets

Barcelona midfielder Sergio Busquets admits his side ‘suffered more than usual’ during their Copa del Rey semi-final win at Real Madrid.

Luis Suarez scored twice and Raphael Varane inadvertently netted an own goal to give Ernesto Valverde’s side a 3-0 victory, despite Madrid dominating large parts of the match.

“Playing at that stadium is a tough as is possible in football but our performances there in recent years have been fantastic,” Busquets explained to reporters, as cited by Diario Sport.

“Real Madrid were very strong, they were much better in possession and we struggled to handle the counter-attacks, but thankfully they could not score.

“We suffered a lot, more than is usual, and we could not control the ball as we would have wanted but we won the game.

“It is a result which gives us confidence going into a series of important games.”
