Luka Modric to extend Real Madrid deal until 2021

Luka Modric is set to pen a new contract at Real Madrid until 2021 and he will end his career at the club, according to a report in Marca.

The Croatian’s current deal in the Spanish capital in June 2020 and this is the latest in a long line of reports that he will pen a new deal.

Earlier this month, Modric told reporters, as cited by Marca: “I am calm about my future, there is still 18 months left on my deal.

“My wish is to stay here for even longer than that, as the truth is I am very happy here and as much so as I was on the first day I joined.”

Italian club Inter have reportedly held a longstanding interest in the player’s signature but Modric, who joined from Tottenham in 2012, appears set to end his career in Madrid.

The 33-year-old won the 2018 Ballon d’Or and FIFA The Best gongs after helping Los Blancos to a third straight Champions League crown and guiding Croatia to a first ever World Cup final.
