Barcelona ‘at the front of the queue’ for highly-rated Luka Jovic

Barcelona are ‘at the front of the queue’ to sign Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic this summer, according to fresh reports.

Last Monday, Marca cited a report in Frankfurter Allgemeine that the Blaugrana and the player have ‘laid the foundations for a deal’ although stressed there was no agreement yet with the German club.

Goal.com now say the Catalan giants are leading the race for the Bundesliga’s top scorer this season, who has netted 19 times in 29 appearances.

There have also been follow-up reports in both El Mundo Deportivo and ESPN FC verifying the news of Barca’s interest, as they seek a long-term replacement for Luis Suarez.

The Bosnian-born striker has 14 goals in 15 league starts this season, more than anyone else in the division, while he has also netted five goals in the Europa League this campaign.

The 21-year-old joined Frankfurt from Benfica in 2017 on a two-long loan season (with an option to buy this summer) having begun his career at Serbian giants Crvena Zvezda and is now said to be being monitored by the Catalan giants.

Now a full Serbian international, Jovic is also said to be gaining attention from both Liverpool and Bayern Munich.
