Arsenal ‘reopen chase’ for Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega

Arsenal will return in their attempts to sign Sevilla midfielder Ever Banega this summer, according to reports.

The Argentine international joined the Seville-based club initially in 2014 under the behest of Unai Emery, now at the helm of Arsenal, who had managed him for three seasons at Valencia.

The midfielder’s contract at Los Rojiblancos is said to contain a €20m release clause and the Daily Mirror say the central midfielder could reinforce the Gunners squad.

The 29-year-old became a key component across the following two campaigns at Sevilla, helping them to a further two European titles before departing for Inter in 2016 when Emery left for Paris Saint-Germain.

Banega returned to the Andalusian club last following an unsuccessful season in Italy.

Reports last summer in Estadio Deportivo stated Emery had personally phoned the midfielder in a bid to convince him to join the North London club.
