Thibaut Courtois critical of Gareth Bale’s Madrid integration

Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois has spoken critically of Gareth Bale’s efforts to adapt to life in the Spanish capital.

The comments from the Belgian shot-stopper follow in the wake of former Madrid and Wales boss John Toshack, who claimed Bale needed to learn the Spanish language to ‘show respect’ to the fans.

“For me, here I live like someone born in Madrid…I eat late and go to bed late, its how you live here,” Courtois told HLN, in quotes cited by Diario AS.

“We all had dinner recent but Bale and Kroos did not go because they thought it was too late – we met up at 9.30pm and were having coffee at midnight.

“We then went to bed at 1am and had training at 11am the next day, which I believe is the perfect time to be resting.

“Bale said he would not go because he needed to be in by 11pm.”
