Solari rues missed chances as Real Madrid lose to Girona

Real Madrid manager Santiago Solari was left frustrated at his side's lack of cutting edge in their 2-1 defeat to Girona.

Los Blancos conceded two second half goals, and had captain Sergio Ramos sent off, as they suffered their first La Liga defeat in six games – opening up a seven point gap between them and leaders Barcelona in the process.

However the Argentinian boss felt that his side had enough opportunities to kill the game off.

"We did not close the game out when we had chances to do so.

"However, Girona played very well in the second half. We've made two mistakes, and they've scored from them."

Real Madrid are in the middle of a busy run of games domestically and in Europe, with more to come, and Solari acknowledged that may have played a role in the result.

"We came here today after a busy period of games, We showed some effort, but in the end it was not enough and we were not successful.

"We are still alive in all three competitions and we will keep fighting."
