Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias dismisses Premier League interest

Espanyol striker Borja Iglesias has poured cold water on reports he will move to the Premier League this summer: “I see myself here next season.”

The 26-year-old only joined the Catalan club this summer in a €10m deal from Celta Vigo and he has netted 10 goals in 21 La Liga starts and his contract possesses a €28m release clause.

“I see myself here and there is no reason to think otherwise, I am happy and I have a contract,” Iglesias is cited as saying by Diario AS.

The Galician native netted 23 goals for Real Zaragoza last season on a loan spell while the prior campaign he grabbed 34 goals for Celta’s B team.

Previous reports had claimed Iglesias wanted to remain at the RCDE Stadium despite being likely to increase his wages should he have accepted a move to England, with Everton among the sides linked.
