Athletic Club Bilbao boss Gaizka Garitano believes his side deserved to win Sunday night’s goalless encounter against Barcelona.
The Basque giants had the better of the encounter for long spells but could not find the back of the net as the game ended in stalemate.
“It's always good to get a point against a side like Barcelona but we had the better chances and created more danger,” Garitano told reporters after the game, as cited by Marca.
“(Barca goalkeeper, Marc-Andre) ter Stegen was sensational for them – he is a great goalkeeper who made two fantastic saves.
“We are happy with getting a point and the work our players put in but we believe that we have been closer to winning this game than them.
“We do not live on feelings because what we need are points and we have not achieved three points here, but we it is important to keep improving.
“Everything in the table is very tight and no side is putting a lot of wins together, we have to try and move in the right direction in the table and get out of our situation.”
