Real Madrid cruise past Alaves

Real Madrid cruised to a 3-0 win over Alaves at the Santiago Bernabeu, with goals from Karim Benzema, Vinicius Junior and substitute Mariano Diaz.

The hosts were far from their best, but their efficiency in front of goal was enough to secure all three points, and cement their place inside the top four in La Liga.

Benzema converted the first real chance of the game, as Vinicius and Sergio Reguilon combined on the left wing, with the latter squaring for Benzema to net his 10th La Liga goal of the season.

Benzema and Gareth Bale had efforts saved by Fernando Pacheco after the restart, with Alaves also posing a threat on the counter attack.

However it was the on form Vinicius that put the game beyond doubt on 80 minutes as Santiago Solari's side broke at pace on their visitors. He linked up with substitute Marco Asensio, continued his run and finished a the far post.

Diaz put the gloss on the result in added time, with his first La Liga goal of the season, from a diving header from Alvaro Odriozola's whipped cross.

Real face a crunch run of forthcoming fixtures, with Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Ajax all coming up in the next ten days.
