Dani Carvajal ‘happy’ for Alvaro Morata’s Atletico Madrid move

Dani Carvajal is ‘happy’ that his ‘close friend’ Alvaro Morata has returned to Spanish football as he joins Atletico Madrid from Chelsea.

The two players built up a close friendship while at Real Madrid but will now be rivals domestically as the striker has joined Atleti on an initial 18-month loan deal.

“He is happy to join Atleti, so I am happy for him,” Carvajal told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“We will always be close friends, it will be tough for me to view him as a rival and he has made this move because it will be good for his career.

“I hope that he has a lot of success but not against Real Madrid, and I hope he has a bad match in the upcoming Madrid derbi!

“He did not have many opportunities in English football but I’m sure he will re find his confidence back in Madrid and he will be playing better here.”

Carvajal also commented on Madrid’s recent form: “We are playing well, we have intensity in games but we are still conceding too many goals.

“We are in control of our style, and in games, we are playing together.”
