Barcelona star Lionel Messi insists he and his teammates will ‘need the club’s fans’ if they are to overcome Sevilla in the Copa del Rey quarter-final.
The Andalusian club won last week’s first leg 2-0 in Seville, leaving Barca in a vulnerable position ahead of this week’s second leg at the Camp Nou.
“It is always tough to beat a team like Sevilla, even more so when you need to reverse a 2-0 scoreline,” Messi told El Mundo Deportivo’s awards ceremony on Monday night.
“We will need our fans to get behind us because this is a big ask for us, they are a really strong side who excel on the counter-attack in particular.
“We must continue our recent form in this game and in the league if we are to have success this season.”
