Sevilla president confirms deal for Napoli’s Marko Rog

Sevilla president Jose Castro has confirmed the club will sign Napoli midfielder Marko Rog: “We hope to close a deal for him tomorrow.”

The 23-year-old joined the Italian side in 2016 from Dinamo Zagreb but has made just six starts in that time, with an incredible 46 substitute appearances in the same timeframe.

“We’ve made two quality signings [in Munir El Haddadi and Max Wober] and there’s another [Rog] who has just landed in Seville. We hope to close a deal for him tomorrow,” Castro told Diario de Sevilla.

“It’s good proof of this club’s ambition to build a more competitive team and fight for all the objectives we have in front of us.”

That deal cost the Italian club €14.5m and he could continue a busy month at Sevilla, who have already completed the signing of striker Munir El Haddadi from Barcelona and Ajax defender Maximilian Wober.

Napoli boss Carlo Ancelotti confirmed a press conference last week that Rog was the most likely to leave on a loan deal during the January transfer window.
