Quique Setien rubbishes Barcelona talk of Kevin-Prince Boateng ‘advice’

Real Betis Coach Quique Setien has rubbished reports that Barcelona phoned him for advice before signing Kevin-Prince Boateng from Sassuolo.

Setien coached Boateng during the 2016/17 campaign at Las Palmas – the forward’s only season playing in La Liga before his move to the Camp Nou.

The Ghanaian netted 10 goals in 25 starts for Los Amarillos with his boss in Gran Canaria, now at Betis, with Diario Sport subsequently reporting that he encouraged the Catalan giants to sign him.

“I am astonished by the audacity of some media that say that,” Setien told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“I have not been called by anyone from Barcelona (to ask about Boateng) but yes, it seems to me an extraordinary signing, of course.

“He gave us a lot of things, he contributed a lot of things, he is a committed player, he is a good player, Barcelona has made a good signing, without a doubt.”
