Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos has spoken of the ‘strong connection’ between the club’s players and fans following the 2-0 league victory over Sevilla.
The defender was satisfied with his side’s performance and spoke of the fans in light of recent lower attendances, which have been linked to below-par results.
“There is always a strong connection between the fans and us players at Real Madrid,” Ramos told reporters after the game, as cited by Diario AS.
“I want the fans to be here because we are stronger when we are together, they make us play better and in return we make them happier, it’s a cycle.
“We always aim to make the fans go home happy and to enjoy the match, and we believe today we have given them that.
“This was a great game and we needed to be at our best to win it, and if we had been more clinical in the final third we could have won by more.
“This result is because of hard work but it is only three point, and we need to keep this going if we are to meet our objectives.”
