Barcelona loan for Carlos Vela ruled out by Los Angeles

Former Real Sociedad striker Carlos Vela will not be leaving Los Angeles on a loan deal despite links of a move to Barcelona.

Diario AS cite LAFC’s Director of Football John Thorrington as ruling out a temporary exit for the forward, with the only possibility of a deal being a permanent departure.

The Mexico international has netted 15 goals in 32 appearances for Los Angeles since moving to MLS from La Real a year ago.

Now aged 29, Vela netted a total of 66 La Liga goals for the Basque club across seven seasons having initially joined the club from Arsenal in 2011.

The Mexican previously held loan spells in Spain with Salamanca and Osasuna with Barca believing he is open to the idea of returning to the nation.

ESPN Deportes journalist Mauricio Pedroza has also confirmed Vela ‘is on the club’s shortlist’ following the departure of Munir El Haddadi to Sevilla earlier this month.
