Jordi Alba insists he wants to remain at Barcelona but admits he does not where the club stand on offering him a renewed deal.
Alba’s contract at the Camp Nou has entered its final 18 months, despite the Spaniard being Barca’s first-choice left-back and in fine form.
“The situation remains the same, but I do not know where the club stands,” Alba told reporters after Sunday’s 3-0 win over Eibar, as cited by Marca.
“I do not know if they want to renew my deal or not, I have not heard anything more and that is a situation I cannot control.
“I am focusing on my situation, I want to remain and I think I have been playing well, but that is all I can say.”
The left-back’s current deal at the Camp Nou expires in June 2020 and possesses a €150m release clause but he wants an improved contract.
Juventus and Manchester United are said to be among the clubs interested in a possible move for the Spain international.
Alba has played more than 250 matches for Barca after his 2012 move from Valencia with his last renewal penned in 2015.
