Barcelona ‘turn down offer’ to sign Chelsea’s Alvaro Morata

Barcelona have turned down the opportunity to sign Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata in January, according to El Mundo Deportivo.

The player’s representative Juanma Lopez is said to have offered his client to a number of clubs including Barca and Atletico Madrid.

The Spain international had been strongly linked with a move to Sevilla who have declared their interest but have admitted a deal would be ‘extremely difficult’.

Barca are said to have rejected the opportunity of a six-month loan deal due to the wage costs involved and their apparent desire to give an opportunity to a younger player.

Coach Ernesto Valverde has already confirmed a January exit is likely for Munir El-Haddadi, potentially leaving their squad short of attacking options following Paco Alcacer’s summer exit.
