Barcelona are in ‘advanced negotiations’ to sign Ajax midfielder Frenkie De Jong and could complete a deal this week, say reports in Spain.
Diario AS carry the report, via El Club de la Mitjanit (Esport 3), who say the midfielder could join the Catalan giants in a deal worth in the region of €75m.
Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester City have also been strongly linked for the in-demand midfielder, who has won five caps for the Netherlands.
De Jong has made 65 first-team appearances for Ajax but his level of performance has ensured he has caught the attention of Europe’s leading clubs.
A report in De Telegraaf earlier this month stated Paris Saint-Germain had struck a €75m agreement for the player.
