Thierry Henry confirms Monaco interest in Chelsea’s Cesc Fabregas

Monaco boss Thierry Henry has confirmed the club are hopeful of completing the signing of Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas.

The Spain international has not started a single Premier League club for the Blues this season and appeared to wave goodbye to fans after being substituted off in Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Nottingham Forest.

Last week, a variety of reports including in Diario Sport and Cadena Cope claimed the experienced midfielder would join Ligue 1 strugglers Monaco, where he would be reunited with former teammate Henry.

“Of course, we would like to have him soon,” Henry told reporters, as cited by ESPN FC.

“Lots of clubs would like to have him. He will be a free agent at the end of the season and, if he comes in July only, we will be very happy with this.”

Fabregas has been linked with a number of clubs including Milan, Valencia and Atletico Madrid, but his next destination has appeared unclear until now.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2014 and celebrates his 32nd birthday in May.

Fabregas has won two Premier League titles, one League Cup and one FA Cup at the Blues.
