Atletico Madrid are close to agreeing a new contract with goalkeeper Jan Oblak, according to a report in Cadena Cope.
The Slovenian shot-stopper has a contract at Atleti until 2021 but his €100m release clause is seen as attainable by top European clubs, hence Los Rojiblancos seeing a need to bolster this fee.
The 26-year-old has developed into one of the world’s elite goalkeepers in Madrid since his €16m transfer from Benfica in 2014.
Oblak has been a regular in Diego Simeone's starting line-up across the past four seasons and his renewal has long been seen as a priority.
The goalkeeper’s latest deal at Atleti was penned in 2016 and it increased his release clause from €45m to €100m but this new deal is set to see another ‘significant increase’ in value.
