Barcelona ‘draw up list’ for Ernesto Valverde replacement

Barcelona are drawing up a list of candidates to potential replace Ernesto Valverde in the dugout next season, report Marca.

Earlier this week, the former Athletic Bilbao boss told club media he did not know if he would still be in his position next season when asked about the future.

The 54-year-old won both La Liga and the Copa del Rey in his first season in charge of the club and added the Spanish Super Cup this campaign, while his side currently top La Liga at the halfway stage.

Marca claims the Catalan giants have already begun to think about Valverde’s potential replacements with Real Betis Coach Quique Setien said to be among the leading candidates.

Nine names are mentioned in the report including former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger and current Monaco boss Thierry Henry, who formerly played for the Blaugrana.

Other previous Barca players on the list include Jordi Cruyff, Xavi Hernandez, Frank de Boer and Ronald Koeman – who is currently in charge of The Netherlands.
