Milan confirm ‘talks’ over Sevilla striker Luis Muriel

Milan boss Gennaro Gattuso has confirmed the club have ‘talked about’ the possibility of a deal for Sevilla striker Luis Muriel.

The Colombian international – who has started just one La Liga matches this campaign – looks set to leave the Andalusian club in a loan deal in January.

El Mundo reported a deal with the Milanese giants was close although other reports suggest Fiorentina may be the destination for the former Sampdoria striker.

“I don’t know if we’ve got him, but we have talked about him,” confessed Gattuso on Sky Sport Italia.

“We talked about him, as we did about other players.

“Muriel can play wide, but you need to make the most of his characteristics and get him to attack the goal. He can play as a support striker too.”

The Colombian joined Los Rojiblancos in the summer of 2017 in a €21.6m deal from Sampdoria but has fallen behind Wissam Ben Yedder and Andre Silva in the attacking preferences for Coach Pablo Machin.

Earlier this week, Marca reported on the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci has informed Sevilla of the interest from the Milanese giants, who failed in their attempt to re-sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Lucci also represents Milan duo Suso and Bertolacci, while relations between the clubs are amicable following the recent loan move of Andre Silva to the Andalusian club.
