Sergio Rico: ‘I will return to Sevilla as a better goalkeeper’

Sergio Rico believes he ‘will return to Sevilla as a better goalkeeper’ following his season-long loan stint at Premier League club Fulham.

The 25-year-old is on a season-long loan deal at the West London club having made 169 appearances for his hometown club.

“Both for Sevilla and for me the best thing was that I left,” Rico told Cadena Ser.

“I am living an extraordinary experience that will help me to return to Sevilla as the best goalkeeper I can possibly be.

“Moving away has not been easy, it is the first time I have left Seville, left my home and I needed to learn the language, to make life in England.

“People close to me have helped me to adapt and it is just a pity that the team have not got the results we want.

“Boxing Day football? It is something different…seeing that my colleagues in Spain are on vacation, but it's nice. It's the tradition they have here in England and the experience is very good.”
