Arturo Vidal admits ‘deep frustration’ at Barcelona role

Barcelona midfielder Arturo Vidal has admitted he was ‘deeply frustrated’ earlier in the season due to lack of playing time.

The 31-year-old only joined Barca this summer but has started just seven of a possible 25 matches for Ernesto Valverde’s side this campaign.

“It’s true that I was deeply frustrated before, but I’m not anymore,” Vidal told RAC1.

“Every player wants to play and to feel important, that is why you join any club but equally you do not want to cause any upset.

“Yes, I suppose it was a fiery encounter, but this is not in my mind anymore and all I’m thinking about is working hard, improving as a player and winning trophies.

“I’ve learned that nobody can see themselves as a starter here because everything is dependent upon training and whoever is playing the best will get their chance.

“I know my qualities – overturning possession, being a box-to-box midfielder and my work ethic, so I need to show that to the Coach.

“I don’t believe there are many midfielders in the world who can offer what I have.”
