Sevilla fans protest over reports of club’s sale

Sevilla fans have ramped up their displeasure against reports of a takeover bid from American businessman Robert Kraft.

Robert Kraft, owner of the National Football League’s (NFL) New England Patriots and the Kraft Group, is said to be close to completing the purchase of the club.

Current Los Rojiblancos president Pepe Castro is said to be negotiating the sale of the club but many fan groups have voiced their opposition to the plans.

Ahead of Thursday night’s Europa League victory over Krasnodar, Sevilla fans held up banners stating: “our passion is not negotiated” whilst chanting “Sevilla is not for sale.”

A number of scarves with the statement ‘Sevilla will not be sold’ were thrown onto the pitch ahead of the game, which Sevilla won 3-0.

In an ongoing battle for power at the Andalusian club, Kraft is said to be leading a consortium through an investment company reportedly titled ‘Sevillistas Unidos 2020’.
